Isle Of Dee Combat, Violence and Capture Rules

April 2014 revision
 ©Isle Of Dee

These rules are designed by Players for Players and Playability, to ensure the enjoyment of all participants on our sim.
We reserve the right to change the rules when issues arise.
The rules set forth are non-negotiable, and, by engaging in any combat or violent RP in the sim, you agree to be bound by these rules.

If we as Manager and Owner of the Sim and Isle of Dee Concept are ever forced to deal with issues coming from combat or capture RP, we will expect you to help to resolve the problem with all available information, INCLUDING main or private chat logs.

Don’t call for our support in minor issues. Best don’t call for our support for RP Combat issues -ever. That’s considered selfish drama, and may cause you to be banned.  The same applies if you are not able to handle yourself in a mature way.

We are NOT a hack and slash community and combat is seen as – possible – enhancement of roleplay.  If your sole purpose in coming to Dee is to be a bully, please play elsewhere. There are RP areas and non RP areas. Please respect the non RP areas as non combat areas= safe zones.

___________
Etiquette
““““““““““
Be extra polite OOC during all kinds of conflict or IC violence – failure to be respectful towards your fellow players can result in a ban.

Drama is unacceptable.  It is silly and not necessary in a GAME, and can result in a ban.

Basics about Combat in Dee
““““““““““““““““““““
There are three forms of acceptable combat within the Isle of Dee

Freeform: Text based combat.  Be realistic.  Keep an open IM dialog with your opponent to agree upon limits and actions.

Dice:  The use of the RPG Action system is the only acceptable tool dice combat.  You can get a free copy in the Ship.  This tool is also great for other things  as described in the notecard coming with it.

Meter:   We use the Revolt meter ONLY.  No other meters are allowed in the sim.  Any other weapons for other meters are for decoration only and must fit the theme of the sim.   The use of ANY magic in combat is not permitted.

Only exceptions for weapons: small non scripted props for text combat, unscripted daggers, hair needles and the like.

The use of any meter other than REVOLT is not permitted in Dee.  Any non-REVOLT meter MUST be removed upon entering.

SAFE ZONES: no fighting allowed.

  • under construction ( sim is just build as we play, safe zones to come)
  • Non RP areas, Private homes /Stores and Public buildings unless there is consent by the home’s owner

Someone leaving a RP area shall be considered to have successfully fled combat.  Do not wait for them.  Engage again at another day.

NON-COMBATANTS

If you are not into combat at all, if your computer has lag issues, if you are not in the right mood one day – not wearing a meter signifies that you are not open for meter combat.  However, text and dice still apply.  Or you may flee or surrender.  Be real.  Don’t stand and taunt someone hostile because they cannot hurt you!

Also play fear. Yes , fear. If you encounter a hostile acting being, don’t debate. Run, hide, do what your helpless, non-fighting character would realistically do to save themselves.  Also, standing around a battle means you could be harmed in the process by swinging swords or flying arrows.  Would you do that in real life?  Watch from a safe place.

DEFEAT

When your Meter Health reaches 0, you are defeated and your character falls “unconscious”, you are severely wounded in a manner of your choice or just knocked out, but not dead, unless you decide you’re dead.  (see Character Death.)

>> You cannot enter THIS battle again <<

Resetting your meter and re-enter is illegal

If you happen to be healed or bandaged (required downtime of 10 minutes) while the battle is ongoing, you are expected to remove yourself from the scene and find a place to lick your wounds, unless you are captured.

Even if your character experiences quick healing because of your race or abilities, we expect at least a few hours (if not days) of wounded RP.  No one, other than you, has the right to decide the extent and description of your own injuries.  However, make it believable, and roleplay it!  For instance: Don’t claim dismemberment from getting clubbed just to make the effect of the outcome more epic. But if you got “just clubbed”, have a at least a damn annoying headache !

CAPTURE

After being defeated in a battle, the winner may choose to take the loser as a captive.  You do not have a right to refuse.  In other words, no consent is needed to be taken as a prisoner if you have just lost a battle. You consented already with entering the encounter. You could still have fled , right?

Just to clarify…….Captor – the one doing the capturing.  Captive – the one being held

Captor’s responsibilities:

  • Communicate OOC with captive regarding limits.
  • May, without consent, slap, kick or drag the captive
  • Provide RP!!
  • Allow for escape in some form

Captive’s responsibilities:

Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should anyone feel uncomfortable and have no chance to get out of the situation.

In rare case of torture: You may IM the other player at any time, and say “stop” – you don’t even have to explain yourself to them if you really are triggered OOC.
We expect you in such case to take a break from Roleplay. Distract yourself, enjoy some RL, fresh air, a good nap, movie or book, snuggles with friends or family and come back restored and free from effects.

You are not to go on with any sort of violence or IC treatment when told “stop”.
On the other hand, players are not to put themselves in situations where violence can be expected if they generally don’t like it.  Don’t do the “always prey” thing with the sole purpose of being the center of attention, and bringing troubles upon others.

CHARACTER DEATH

Up to you.

Please note that members of our ‘Cameo Corp’ are NPC’s whose task it is to play incidental disposable characters.

Want to become Cameo Corp NPC ? If you are a mature reasonable cool experienced player  inform us.

SPARRING

Sparring for practice can be either IC or OOC.
During IC Sparring a reset of the meter after defeat is valid, but you may want to play at least some bruises.
